As a 24 year old, I thought I should weigh in on this topic. I was the president of my Rotaract club in my last year of school and I would love to join my sponsor club asap. There are some roadblocks to joining which I would think are relevant to my friends and peers as well.
It is hard to commit to a club after leaving school because there is a great deal of uncertainty with regards to finding a job and settling down. I don’t think in my first year of working I could join a “lunch club” as employers might not understand my taking an extended lunch once a week. As well as monetary commitments to the club. An active club would draw me in as I would be able to participate without feeling guilty for not being able to donate money to projects.
